A rush of adrenaline set the mood for the second week of February for it was the most awaited week, ‘placement week’, in XIME. Placements commenced on the 16th of February, 2008. The placement process was guided by a faculty team consisting of Prof. Yatin Samant and Prof. Gopal Rao. In addition, there was a core placement committee comprising students namely, Jinesh Chaddha, Meryn Phillips, Koustubh, Swati M., Mukul and Siddharth Shanmugham. The numerous changes that enveloped the placement process were the net result of their consolidated work. Some of the changes included having a few international placements, as well as moving beyond the world of IT/ITES companies into diverse sectors such as manufacturing, banking, hospitality, telecommunication and the oil industry, to mention a few. Some of the companies that were on campus this year included Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Vodafone, Infosys, Wipro , Coffee Day, Ashok Leyland, Citigroup, Maersk, KPMG, UB, Mindtree and UBS. In addition, the average salary rose to 5.57 lakhs per annum over last years 5.05 lakhs. The highest salary was 10.5 lakhs which was offered by Vedanta, who recruited students for Marketing and Human Resources.
At the end of day zero nearly sixty percent of the students were placed. The companies that came on day zero include Ashok Leyland, CGSL, ICICI, Infosys, Ingram Micro, Firstsource, IOCL, KPMG, Kotak, Maersk, Sify, UBS, Vedanta, Vodafone and Wipro Infotech.
At the end of day one, another seventy percent of the students were placed with companies like GMR, TCS, Akzo Nobel, CTS and Mphasis- they, being the main recruiters for the day. Companies that extended a pre-placement offer to the students included CGSL, Telcon, Mindtree, Wealthadvisors, and ECCI( Philippines)
